About WarehousingCosts.com

Our Mission

We believe every business deserves transparent, accurate cost data for their warehousing decisions. Too many companies overpay for fulfillment because pricing is opaque and comparison is nearly impossible. We're building the resource we wish existed when we started.

Who We Are

WarehousingCosts.com was founded by warehouse operations professionals with 50+ combined years of experience in logistics, fulfillment, and supply chain management. We've worked for 3PLs, managed private warehouses, negotiated contracts with dozens of providers, and seen firsthand how opaque logistics pricing really is.

After helping dozens of brands make warehousing decisions—and getting asked the same questions repeatedly—we decided to build a public resource. We wanted to create the transparency we never had when we were on the operator side.

Today, WarehousingCosts.com serves thousands of ecommerce brands, 3PLs, freight brokers, and logistics professionals who need reliable cost data to make informed decisions.

Our Approach: How We Collect & Verify Data

1Primary Research: Direct Interviews

We conduct quarterly interviews with 3PLs, freight brokers, warehouse operators, and shipper teams. We ask detailed questions about their rate cards, pricing structures, add-on fees, and industry trends. We verify pricing against actual contracts and proposals when possible.

2Market Surveys & RFQs

We submit requests for quotations (RFQs) for standardized scenarios to 20+ major 3PLs quarterly. This gives us apples-to-apples pricing for consistent service levels. We track rate changes over time and identify market trends.

3Cross-Verification

We compare data across multiple sources. If one 3PL claims pricing that contradicts five others, we dig deeper. We verify industry benchmarks against published reports and third-party surveys. We ask shipper users to submit their actual contracts (anonymized) to validate our findings.

4Ongoing Updates

Pricing changes quarterly. We maintain a continuous monitoring process: quarterly data refreshes, monthly spot checks on major providers, and rapid updates when market conditions shift (e.g., fuel surcharges, economic recessions). Every article is timestamped with last-update date.

5Transparency & Disclosure

Every article that contains pricing includes a methodology section explaining how the data was collected, what assumptions we made, and what caveats apply. We disclose our data sources (while respecting confidentiality agreements). We invite readers to submit corrections and feedback.

Editorial Standards: Our Commitment to Independence

No Pay-for-Placement

Vendors cannot pay to be ranked higher on our comparison pages. We do not accept sponsorship to promote specific 3PLs or warehouses. Our rankings are based solely on objective criteria (cost, features, customer service) applied consistently.

Clear Labeling of Sponsored Content

If a 3PL or logistics provider sponsors content (e.g., a case study), we clearly label it as "Sponsored" or "Promoted" at the top of the article. Sponsored content does not affect our unsponsored comparison pages or reviews.

Methodology Transparency

Every article that contains numbers or comparisons includes a detailed methodology section. We explain: where data came from, how we calculated it, what assumptions we made, and what limitations apply. See our dedicated Methodology page for full details.

No Vendor Veto

Vendors do not have the right to review or approve articles before publication. We do not share drafts with the 3PLs we cover. We will always provide factual corrections if a vendor identifies an error in an article, but this does not grant them editorial control.

Corrections & Feedback

If you find an error or have feedback on our content, please email greg@warehousingcosts.com. We'll investigate and issue corrections promptly if warranted. Corrections are published transparently in the article.

User Trust First

Our business model depends on user trust. If our data is wrong or misleading, users won't return. If vendors are unhappy because we're honest about weaknesses, that's okay—we're not writing for them. We prioritize the needs of shippers, brands, and logistics professionals over vendor relationships.

How We Make Money (& Why It Matters)

We make money through three channels. We disclose this because it's relevant to understanding potential conflicts of interest. Here's exactly how it works:

1. Lead Generation & Referral Fees

When users fill out our "Get Quotes" lead form, we share their information with 3PLs who have opted into our lead network. These 3PLs pay us a referral fee (typically $15–$50 per qualified lead). This is similar to how mortgage or insurance comparison sites work.

Why we disclose: This could incentivize us to exaggerate 3PL costs so users feel motivated to request quotes. We've designed our lead form to be transparent about this—users are filling it out knowingly.

2. Display Advertising

We run programmatic display ads from Google AdSense and similar networks. Vendors (including 3PLs) can bid to show ads on our site, just like any other website. We receive a small payment per ad impression.

Why we disclose: A vendor could theoretically bid for placement, creating the appearance of influence. In reality, ad networks handle this automatically and we have no control over which ads appear.

3. Affiliate Partnerships

When we link to third-party tools (e.g., shipping software, WMS providers), some partners pay us a referral commission if a user signs up. These links are clearly labeled "Affiliate" and do not appear in our cost comparisons.

Why we disclose: Affiliate links can create incentives to promote inferior products. We only recommend tools we genuinely believe are useful, and we always provide alternatives.

Why This Model Is Better Than Paywalls

We intentionally do not charge readers for access. All tools, calculators, and guides are free. We believe cost transparency is a public good—hiding it behind a paywall defeats the purpose. By monetizing through lead gen and ads instead, we keep everything free while building sustainable business. This allows us to keep data fresh and tools updated.
